Couple of items from Iwakuni and Hiroshima

I just got back from a trip to Iwakuni and Hiroshima.  The Lord spoke to me concerning many personal items regarding my future in Japan while there.  I am still meditating on these items, will share them at a later date.

For now, just wanted to share a couple of items on the spiritual side of the trip.  It was also a research trip for my In Country Training, so there is a longer, more detailed post concerning that aspect of the trip on my maxxjapan blog, you can click on the link to it on the ride margin of this blog.

Me and my two oldest daughters Elise and Ingrid (pink and orange shirts) who came with me on this trip, with our hosts in Iwakuni the Silvas, dad Mike and his son Jacob and youngest daughter Anna.  We are in front of Kintai Bridge, the famous site and spiritual hub of Iwakuni.

Calvary Chapel Iwakuni, http://www.calvaryiwakuni.com/, where Mike is the senior pastor.  It is right outside the main gate to the Marine Corps Air Station, and it serves the Marine families as well as local Japanese.  Such an awesome ministry to witness the Lord establishing there!

On the top of nearby Mt Misen on Miyajima island, there are several Buddhist temples.  One of them had this interesting advertisement displayed.  How frightening it must be to think that this life on Earth is all that is promised to us, except for some vague superstitions about karmic reincarnation that has no basis in fact!  Pray for the Holy Spirit to cover the nation of Japan in love and truth.

Witnessing Richard Wilson's ministry

Middle of June I was blessed to attend one of my good friend Richard Wilson's university classes in Yotsuya, one of the districts of Tokyo.  The visit really inspired me toward giving serious thought to Richard's ministry.  He has been used by the Lord for many years now in Japan and his family is a testimony of faithful missionaries who are truly patient to wait on the Lord in order to witness His perfect Will in action among His beloved creation in Japan.
Richard's classroom with most of the 17 students who attended that day already gone.  It was a second-year undergraduate English Literature class, and it was great fun to converse and listen to the students begin to unlock English literature.  Very state-of-the-art computer lab comes in handy, too!

With Richard across from the campus of St Sophia University, as it is known in English.
